Early 20th Century Russian American Artist Zanwill D. Klopper
This is a nice painting by Russian American artist Zanwill David Klopper. This piece depicts a couple of boats off of a dock near what looks to be a small waterside town. This style seems to take inspiration from impressionism with a very nice execution. This painting uses watercolor painting, giving it a wonderful flow. This piece is framed with complimentary backing colors, making his work in the middle pop out. The frame itself has some wear, though looks to be a rustic finish on the wooden frame. The backing gives some information on the artist, saying he was born in Russia in the 1870's and made his way to work in Chicago in the early 1900's. Klopper was born in 1870 in Russia, eventually immigrating to the United States in the early 1900's. He made quite a few paintings as he was passionate for art, with some of his drawings being found in medical textbooks. This piece is framed, it measures roughly 26 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches, with the painting itself seeming to be more around 16 x 10 1/2 inches.
