Antique Art Nouveau Safe Deposit Vaults Solid Bronze Gates & Frame Denver Bank
Fantastic Bronze Artwork Chinese Influence Dragons.
Rare Antique Art Nouveau Safe Deposit Vaults Solid Bronze Gates and Frame from old Denver Colorado Bank. Fantastic Bronze Artwork Chinese Influence with Dragons. This is a very rare item and a fantastic piece of bronze art from the late 19th or early 20th century. Every part of this piece is solid bronze including all of the plates, scrollwork at the sides and of course the gates and frame. Most likely Art Nouveau influence. On the back plate there is a Chinese inscription, unknown to us what the translation is. The frame weighs in excess of 600 pounds and each of the gates are in the 300-pound range. It has original patina and has not been cleaned or retouched. We do not know what bank in Denver it came from but the story we know is that sometime in the 1960's this piece was brought from Denver and installed as a front gateway entrance to an old home in the Broadmoor neighborhood area of Colorado Springs which is where we acquired it. It measures 7' 4 1/2" overall height and 7' 8 1/2" overall width, each gate measures 2' 11" width and 6' 9" high. We have installed it on an addition that we are doing but thought if there was an interested party, we would sell it before we complete the addition. It is a one-off piece of art most likely commissioned from a noted bronze artist of the period working in architecture and bank buildings. Scroll below to see additional images.
