Early 19th Century Chinese Round Lacquer Chinoiserie Table Top
Here is a very nice, early 19th century Chinese trade piece. These "Chinoiserie" cocktail tables were lacquered black, and hand painted to be traded with other nations. This particular piece is highly detailed, with a border of coins, Phoenixes, and Dragons with other decorations. The main focus shows a rather busy village, with quite a few characters, buildings, and other decorations with quite a large portion of the piece covered in the gorgeous work. There is wear present on this piece, with some of the elevated areas of paint having worn off, showing the black lacquer beneath. The edges also show wear, as does the back of this piece. The rear still has the original hardware to be mounted as a table, with a wire hanger being added as the table base is no longer present. Hung on a wall, the wear on the back is hidden, with some of the edges also being covered. There is sadly no signature on this piece, as there looks to have once been a label on the back, though that is now missing. This piece measures roughly 36 inches in diameter, and about 2 1/4 inches thick. The hanging wire and mounts look to be well secured, and should hold up to the weight of this piece. As it is solid wood and is quite large, shipping is relegated to freight due to the oversized nature of this piece.
