The kings and queens modelled as Emperors and Empresses, the bishops as Mandarins, knights on horseback, rooks as elephants with turrets and pawns as foot soldiers
The king - 4 1/2 in. high; the pawns 2 in. high. Lacquered wood folding game board with hand painted gilt decorations & mother of pearl inlays. Has 32 hand carved ivory figural pieces with half having a red stained finish & the other half natural ivory. The pieces and board have nominal wear with the board having some small chips & cracks as to be expected with it's age.
