1842 Western Rail Road Corp Of MA Notice Of 15th & Last Asse
This is a very early printed document notice of assessment dated February 10 1842 with Western Rail Road Corporation business on the front and manuscript on the reverse. It measures 7 5/8 x 9 7/8 Inches. It is in very nice condition. We acquired this and many other railroad related documents & letters from a descendant of a James D. Brewer of Springfield MA who was a prominent Businessman and Investor from the 1830′s-1880′s. The Western Railroad started operations in 1833 and stopped service in 1879. Since Western Railroad began operations before 1860, it was operating at a very early time in US Railroad history. Almost any railroad antique from this early period will have significant value to collectors such as passes, timetables, documents, lanterns, and other railroad items which wouldn’t have much value if it were from a later period. Antiques from this period can be worth hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the condition, provenance and rarity of the specific item.
