"English Landscape" Painting By Helmut Reuter (1913-1985) Oil on Board

Here is a nice piece by Helmut Reuter (1913-1985) titled "English Landscape" oil on board. This painting has beautifully aged with paint crackling only adding to the character of this landscape piece. Helmut was well known for painting landscapes of Germany where he was born, with some paintings of the sea and varying other landscapes from his travels. This piece depicts a small, swampy pond beneath large trees that cast their reflections upon the water. The paint is quite lively on this piece, with small clumps formed from stacking the pigments atop the board and each other for a better-defined piece. This work is framed in a golden toned frame, which does show some wear. A tag is hung from the back, likely from an art show of years past, though it provides the title of this piece, and confirmation on the signature. This piece measures 19 1/8 x 15 1/8 inches.
