1849 CT River Rail Road Of MA Extremely Rare Passenger Fares
This is a very early printed broadsheet Passenger Fares. Dated November 5 1849 with first & second class fares on the front and manuscript on the reverse. It measures 7 x 8 3/8 Inches. It is in excellent condition. We acquired this and many other railroad related documents & letters from a descendant of a James D. Brewer of Springfield MA who was a prominent Businessman and Investor from the 1830′s-1880′s. The Connecticut River Rail Road started operations in 1845 and stopped service in 1919. Since Connecticut River Rail Road began operations before 1860, it was operating at a very early time in US Railroad history. Almost any railroad antique from this early period will have significant value to collectors such as passes, timetables, documents, lanterns, and other railroad items which wouldn’t have much value if it were from a later period. Antiques from this period can be worth hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the condition, provenance and rarity of the specific item.
